Book Editing Design: The Virtuous Book

This project brings together excerpts from Bruno Munari’s Design as Art and Dieter Rams’ Omit the Unimportant into a single, thoughtfully designed editorial piece. The challenge was to merge two distinct yet complementary perspectives—Munari’s playful and experimental approach to design and Rams’ minimalist and functionalist philosophy—into a cohesive and engaging reading experience.
The editorial design reflects the essence of both designers through carefully structured typography, refined layout compositions, and a strategic color palette. The choice of typefaces balances warmth and precision, enhancing readability while maintaining a visually dynamic rhythm. Inspired by the idea of "catching the word and following the guide," the book’s navigation encourages an intuitive and immersive interaction with the texts.
By integrating hierarchical typography, clean grids, and an intentional use of white space, the design ensures that each excerpt is presented with clarity and impact. The book becomes more than just a collection of texts—it serves as a visual dialogue between Munari and Rams, highlighting their timeless influence on design thinking.
